A 26-year-old Nipomo man died Thursday following a truck crash on Highway 101 in Shell Beach.
Shortly after 6 p.m., Alex James Robinson was driving southbound in a flatbed truck carrying contracting tools. Robinson made a turning movement toward the center median, then tried to correct it but lost control on the truck, investigators said.
The vehicle overturned across both lanes of traffic and rolled over. Robinson was not wearing a seat belt.
The crash ejected him onto the center median, and he suffered a serious injury. Emergency responders transported Robinson to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Traffic stopped as workers cleared the wreck. Numerous contracting tools spilled onto the highway during the accident.
California Highway Patrol investigators have yet to determine the cause of the crash. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
