Santa Maria police are looking for a man who stole a car and then attempted to rape a 16-year-old girl early Saturday morning.
Shortly before 7 a.m., the teen was waiting in a car while a relative dropped several children off at a daycare center on Hermosa Street. Armed with a knife, the suspect then forced the girl to drive to an undisclosed location.
The suspect then attempted to rape her inside the car. Afterwards, the man forced the teen to drive him to another location where he got out of the car and walked away.
Police were unable to locate the man. An investigation is ongoing.
