A virus that is rapidly spreading across the U.S. has reached Ventura County, according to the California Department of Health. [KEYT]
Enterovirus is a severe respiratory virus that has sent dozens to the hospital.
The illness commonly producing symptoms such as fever, runny nose, sneezing, coughing and body aches. No vaccine exists for the virus, which spreads through, coughing, sneezing and infected surfaces.
State health officials say four confirmed Enterovirus cases currently exist in California. Three are in San Diego County, and one is in Ventura County.
Nationwide, Enterovirus cases have been reported in approximately 20 states.
Health officials suggest that individuals avoid contact with people who are sick, wash their hands frequently and thoroughly and disinfect commonly touched surfaces, like doorknobs and toys.
