Officers pulled over Sylvia Ramos for speeding southbound on U.S. Highway 101. Ramos, who is under felony charges for driving with a suspended license and a warrant for crimes against the elderly, handed the officer her driver’s license and then attempted to escape by taking off in the Chevrolet truck she had been driving.

She headed in the direction of downtown San Luis Obispo. Officers followed and a high-speed chase ensued.

Officers attempted to stop Ramos by flattening her tires with a spike strip they laid across California Avenue. However, Ramos continued to flee.

The officers dropped back when she drove onto a highly traffic area of Higuera Street.

A few minutes later Ramos crashed the Silverado she was driving into a curb on Mitchell Drive and Broad Street. The determined felony suspect then attempted a second escape.

Officers surrounded and tackled Ramos who is currently being held in the San Luis Obispo jail with bail set at $20,000.
