I am judging based on this story. I just find it amazing that the P.O. had to have him checked on. There wasn’t a true friend or family member that cared enough to give him a call or check on him? I only knew him in passing. Quite a bit of correspondence and met him in person a couple of times. Of course there is another part of the story, but I find it hard to believe that NOBODY close to him cared enough to check on him.

Don’t be too judgemental, Perspicacious. You don’t know the whole story. Neither do I, but I’m willing to bet you life svaings that there is one. There was a tragic event in my family too, and we were subjected to people like who judged without background knowledge, and with the naive belief that you can change the behavior of another person. I hope you are just naive and stupid.

Bob Cuddy is a different story. He DID lean so far left he fell into the cesspool and never got out. He DID help the tribulation down the wrong path. He was definitely a rude, obnoxious, dufus.

Yes, he was a columnist also, and some did lean left, but he did not influence the Tribulation to go down the path to hell. That would be the current management that is doing that.

Absolutely not what I remember while reading his column. I guess two can read the same thing and come to different conclusions. I know nothing of his being an editor, just read his column and he came across as a flaming liberal.

You are wrong about that. Bill leaned Libertarian if he leaned anywhere. He was the opinion page editor, not the Executive Editor. I have been known to be a very conservative letter writer. Bill never failed to publish my letters. Only after he gave up the responsibilities of the opinion page did my letters stop getting published. I asked him why that was and he told me to cc the letters to him that I submitted and he would see to it that they got published. And they did. The Tribune now doesn’t give a RA about conservative viewpoints, and their reporters ignore correspondence. If anything, Bill kept them from going down into the liberal cesspool quicker than they did.

He may have stepped on some toes and probably made a few mistakes, but he is one of two people at the Tribune I actually know/knew and respect. I am one right wing conservative who is very saddened by his passing.

Ok now that I said it, I am sad for his family and friends who find his death a loss. I am not one to wish anyone leaving this earth. Loss of life is always a huge loss.

Because as has been said many times, “You can’t fix stupid.”
